Getting there is an adventure! The meandering route goes through the Leadville Mining District, State Wildlife Area, Aspen Groves and Pine Forests. The willows along the valley make a perfect environment for observing wildlife. Bring your four-wheel drive vehicle that is suitable for when the road narrows and the very rocky and rutted nature of the road. An ATV, UTV, or small SUV would be best. Once you get to the end of where motorized travel is allowed, it's about 1.5 miles on foot. Make sure that you take in the views behind you as you travel up the road. It's nothing but mountains, forest, grassy meadows, and wetlands for miles! If you'd like to own remote, large acreage with tremendous views...this is the property for you!

Direction Travel East of town on Monroe Street off of Harrison Ave. Turn right on Toledo. Continue on the paved road through California Gulch, up and over to where the road forks and the pavement ends. Veer right. Stay right and continue on County Road 6A until you reach an intersection that has a sign on a tree that says \"Yurts.\" Turn left and zig zag up the road known as CR 6B. Continue straight once you've reached the top of the hill past the State Wildlife Area signage. Turn right on CR 6E. Stay on 6E for 1.1 miles. It will end up going through large Aspen groves and will run along the side of a hill that is very steep. Once you get to an intersection with remnants of a brick structure, turn left up the rocky road. Continue almost to the end of the road. Off to the right, through the Willows is where the foot traffic only trail starts. You'll see a sign from CO Fish & Wildlife. These public roads go through public and private land. Please be courteous and don't trespass.
