Property Description
Looking to own a mountain top with jaw dropping views? These 141 acres are perched above Twin Lakes, Colorado, overlooking Twin Lakes Reservoir, Mount Elbert Forebay, and one of the largest aspen groves in the state. Offered as one sale, these 14 patented mining claims nestled within the San Isabel National Forest are the perfect getaway for those wanting a remote property where you'll be undisturbed, but able to take in amazing views. Hunters: located near the middle of Game Management Unit 48. Hikers: varied terrain with a small spring. OHVs: seasonal motorized access (July 1 - November 30) with snowshoeing and tracked vehicles allowed the remainder of the year (snowmobiles require minimum 6-8" of snow). Access is via Forest Service Road 125C (Note: Access is not guaranteed. Buyers should research access as part of their due diligence. Forest Service Roads are never perpetually guaranteed.). Approximately a 45 minute 4 wheel drive excursion from Highway 82. Large contiguous tracts don't come along everyday, this might be the one for you! Lake County changed the zoning to "Backcountry" in February 2022. Contact the county to see if your plans compliment the allowed uses (this property would not be appropriate for a full time residence due to limited access, nor a short term rental as that's not an allowed use). Note: county map is not accurate, therefore mapping softwares based on county maps are not accurate. Request copies of the mineral surveys prior to accessing properties. Discrepancy in electronic mapping is believed to be approximately 500' too far east.

Direction Use OnX Hunt or other mapping software to locate general property, however, note that these programs are based on county mapping which is incorrect. Download mine surveys for accuracy. From the intersection of US Highway 24 and Colorado Highway 82 turn west towards the town of Twin Lakes. Continue 4 miles on Hwy 82 to Lake County Road 24 (paved turnoff to Lakeview Campground) and turn north/right onto LCR24. Stop and set your trip mileage counter. Pass the Lakeview Campground (1 mile in) and continue to the lower South Elbert Trailhead (1.3 miles in). Immediately after that is Forest Road 125B on your left. Take that 4x4 road, cross a creek (2.7 miles in), drive past the South Elbert upper Trailhead parking lot (3.1 miles in) where you'll see a CO Trail sign on your left. Stay left onto road 125C which will narrow and head uphill. Cross through a gate (3.7 miles in). Recommended you park along switchback (4.4 miles in) and hike up the road as it is narrow and rocky with steep drop-offs.
